Probably needs no further explanation but a big chunk of our 2025 seasonal celebrations are being administered by a tag team of our writers, Ogglypoogly and DJ Fuzzyfelt
Jack Weston
The Parting Glass
Another well kept secret of the steel city is one of my favourite folk acts, and if we're being honest of my favourite people - Jack one Weston.
Closing out the year with a re-working of an old, Celtic composition that's as full of warmth and kindness as his vocal delivery.
The best kind of not strictly festive track, ‘The Parting Glass’ is as soul soothing as an old fashioned by an open fire, the room lit by fairy lights and the bustle of life left behind in place of just being with those who matter most at one of the most disconcertingly hectic time of year.
And, just to make it all the more special, this recording has more than enough merit to be like a dog: a song that's for life, not just Christmas.
